Abu Fanus is a strange phenomenon that occurs in the deserts of the Qatar Imagine fire but black flames. And instead of emanating upward as hot air rises for a normal flame, they emanated in the direction of the beings intentions - as in in the direction of the limbs, upward at the head and slightly out, down toward the legs etc. Slightly translucent but in most places thick enough to stop all of the light passing through it.

Before we talk about it, we as Muslims believe in One God who is Allah SWT (the Most Glorified and Exalted), and He created creatures like Angel, Satan, humans, demons and so on. And we all believe in them. As humans, there are good and bad demons known as Jinns. Demons scare from people. We cannot see them but they see us, and they live with us on earth, they are not aliens from another world. But there are types of their powers, such as some can fly, some can become animal (not every animals) and they can make us to hear them or something like that. (It's not very known because they scare us! They run away if we believe in Allah SWT and say Bismillah Ar Rahman Ar Raheem (In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful)
They also have religions, they believe in Jesus (AS), Moses (AS), and Muhammad (SAW) as prophets of Allah SWT too. How do we know? Because the God who created us and demons, talk about some of their characteristics.
Lantern Demon is believed is a type of demon who attract any traveller to go by, so they get lost. So they are basically playing with us by believing there is a village over there to rest. Before, travellers were in a journey for months in a desert for Marketing and Sales reasons between counties by Camels and maybe horses.
So yeah, They are just some demons playing with us to get lost. We humans bully humans anyways, we don't need to be surprised by seeing a Djinn (Demon) to bully us and laugh on us! They having their own time by making fun of us.
To avoid getting in trouble, just ignore the light, it will go away or you can say Ayatul Kursi (The Throne Verse) so that you will be protected from any kind of Jinns you might encounter especially Abu Fanus.
