Coal Region Pumpkinhead was an halloween pumpkin in the mid 1960s, a 13-year-old boy was walking along a shortcut path through a densely-forested area of the Northeastern Pennsylvania Anthracite Coal Region when he suddenly caught sight of what was described as a man wearing ‘a black suit with a pumpkin over his head’. The entity appeared to be nodding its head, as if to confirm that the witness was indeed seeing what he thought he was. The witness was only 13, and so he freaked out instantly and ‘just ran’. When he looked back, the being was still facing him and nodding, but it apparently made no effort to pursue him.
Appearance[]
The Jack O' Lanterns are aliens who of course, wear Pumpkins on their heads. These Pumpkins have faces carved into them and in the Television adaptation of Attack of the Jack O' Lanterns reveal that the Pumpkin Head's true appearance are green alien with elongated necks and eyes.
One of his friends asked him if it was perhaps someone playing a trick on him, dressed up in a Halloween costume to scare him - but apparently it was after Halloween and so this seemed unlikely to him. He had used that path all the time, and had never encountered anything that weird. The pumpkin man was apparently very tall and thin, and had ‘very pale hands’. The witness was clearly shaken up by the encounter, seeing as he would never use the path again while walking alone.
