[[|thumb|right]]The Sakhalin Island Sea Wolf was the name given to a strange animal carcass that was discovered by Russian soldiers on the Sakhalin shoreline. Sakhalin area is situated near Japan. It's the most eastern part of Russia, almost 5000 miles from Moscow.

Many hypotheses were thrown around after its discovery. Some suggested that it was a surviving mosasaur, a type of extinct marine lizard closely related to today's varanids or monitor lizards. Careful examinations of the skull and teeth placement led most biologists to conclude that the carcass was that of a whale, most likely a beluga. While the hair would seem to throw that conclusion out, as only newborn belugas have any hair whatsoever, it has been suggested that the 'hair' seen on the body was simply decaying flesh left in tattered strands, perhaps aided by the occasional scavenger.

Appearance[]

According to a scientific survey, the bones and teeth are not those of a fish. According to its skeletal remains, it was not a crocodile or an alligator. Its skull resembled that of a canine, while the creature's rear coincides with that of a fish. Its skin was covered with long black hair.
